New Orleans Bachelorette
For my (soon to be) sister-in-laws bachelorette we headed to New Orleans, Louisiana !! The four day trip consisted of cruising on the bayou, kissing gators, pool parties, ghost hunting, chowing down on southern food and partying on Bourbon Street. Now this wasn't an ordinary bachelorette for me because I was pregnant! Turning down the casual drink was actually not an issue at all....the most challenging part was being on my feet into the late hours of the night, 3:00am to be exact. Don't get me wrong, I had the most amazing time but I really underestimated how exhausted, sweaty and swollen I was going to be. It actually took me a few days for my body to recover, specifically my feet. I'm pretty sure I didn't move off the couch for the first 24 hours that I got back. haha.
As always there are the parts of the trip that stand out the most, the first one being the gator tour. On our private tour of the bayou our tour guide was a badass and caught a gator with his bare hands to bring it on the boat. We all took turns taking pictures and kissing the gator. I was also able to bring my drone out and had so much fun filming the backyard beauty of Louisiana. Another highlight of the trip was after our ghost hunting tour we stumbled across this small cute little bar called Fritzel's European Jazz Club. The girls sipped on cocktails as we enjoyed authentic live Jazz music on Bourbon street. It was one of those moments when you really appreciate life. The last highlight of the trip was the food!!! I had the best fried chicken ever and the beignets were to die for.
Being pregnant on a bachelorette I did feel like I stuck out like a sore thumb with my big ol' belly. I got lots of compliments from strangers but of course there’s the whispers under people’s breaths and the judgy glares that go along with it. I can honestly say those negative reactions didn’t bother me one bit because I ultimately choose to focus on the positive. I had lots of strangers giving me high fives for being a trooper and I had a few people tell me I was one of the most fit pregnant women they have ever seen (although I don’t feel that way 😂). I’ve always done my best to be optimistic but I’ve realized it’s more important now than ever to continue being the light for my daughter. I imagine this is only the beginning of the mom shammers but I can only hope that more people focus on the positives and shut out all the negative energy from their life because at the end of the day. . .we are all just trying to do our best.
We had such an amazing 4 days in New Orleans and I absolutely adore these women! Be sure to check out the video I made of our trip below, it is one of my favorite videos I've created to date. Also check out my favorite pictures below! #NoMoreNordine
